Is kumon for toddlers worth it?

I had a friend that told me that one of the classmates of her son is attending Kumon and I really did not believe it.

Then one day, Gymboree Magnolia needed to close down for 1 week to attend to their management problems and I really did not know what to do to Inigo and his extra energy! He was so used to going there and everyday, he is telling me to go to Gymboree, so I looked for other things that he can do for the meantime.

Right that moment, the summer classes have already ended and Rene suggested I check Kumon which is just in front of our house.

I called them and asked if my 2.6 year old son can attend one of their classes. Teacher Tess of Kumon P. Sanchez was very warm and invited me for an assessment the following day. We came there, and she interviewed me regarding the progress of Inigo, house dynamics, routine, activities and what is the goal in sending Inigo to Kumon.

I told her that we started play school at 18 months and the reason that I wanted Inigo to be enrolled is to do something worthwhile and practice his fine motor skills, especially writing because I am a leftie and he is right handed.

When the interview was done, they asked me to fill out some forms and some questions that struck me are:

  1. Do you read books with your child? How often?
  2. How many books do you have at home?
  3. His favorite book?

I was shocked that it matters to them, I asked why, and they said that what Inigo is enrolled is “Reading Program”. When the interview and filling up of forms were done, they invited us to the classroom for FREE ASSESSMENT.

Inigo was so proactive, I am guessing he likes the new activities and attention that the teacher was giving him. The assessment only took 15 minutes and we have decided to enroll him to the lowest level, which is 7A and that includes the ZI pencil skills practice too!

Which is my aim and I was very happy that they offer it for the price of 1. After the interview, they invited That was a Monday, and she asked me to come on their cutoff date, which every 20th of the Month.

These are the requirements that I needed to submit and Php 2,500.

Php 2,000 goes to the tuition fee that includes 8 times a week of one on one classes for 30 mins each class and Php 500 goes to enrollment fee. Not bad to think that it’s Php 250 per class if you think it that way? Then when enrolling, it comes with a FREE BAG and a PENCIL! Who doesn’t like freebies? Hahaha.

The best part is not yet done, THEY HAVE TAKE HOME WORKSHEETS! Imagine, if you attend class for 2 days only, they give you worksheets that are good for 5 DAYS that you are not in class! I really was shocked but in a good way, because it’s really value for money! I do not need to think of activities that Inigo needs to do, it is given to us, for free! Wow dba?

We are now in our second month with Kumon, most days Inigo loves to go and do his homeworks, some days, he is too lazy to go to Kumon or do his assignments. I let him skip assignments for him not to hate Kumon, but I never let him miss a class. I wanted to instill discipline in him as soon as now, sometimes it works perfectly, but there are days, like today that he really did not want to participate so it took a lot of bribery from Teacher Ellen, Teacher Tess and I for him to complete the tasks. I am lucky to find people who understands where we stand and just let’s Inigo run his course of being a toddler at times. font-size:00px toddler

Prime Mom Club: “Holiday Money Making Tips” Event

I was lucky enough to be invited last Nov 17, 2018 for the second meet-up of the Prime Mom Club members and I wouldn’t miss it for anything. I brought my partner, my son and our angel with us for me to be able to experience it without worrying what’s happening at home!

Prime Mom Club

It was held at the event hall of the Prime Hotel in Quezon City. That hotel was so cozy and I can’t believe the parking system they had! It was amazing, a must-see! Their parking is also for free! After parking, we proceeded to the reception to check if I am in the invited list, once they crossed your name on their paper, you are directed to the elevator and once inside, we pressed the 8th floor button. It opened up and I was asked whether I was invited from facebook or a blogger? I told them I was a blogger and they asked me to sign up to leave my information and gave me a welcome kit!

Photo booth is just beside the registration booth and Dona Jasponica, one of their sponsor has a booth that gives out different kinds of cooked products. I immediately went to the Dona Jasponica to taste their champorado and after that took a picture at the photo booth.

The event hall was huge and it was well setup. The space is ample enough for the kids to run-around! I was glad to know that I was not the only one who brought their family! HAHAHA. They have lots of food, a breakfast nook is also available where coffee was overflowing and we had the chance to taste all the Mega Prime products.

Prime Mom’s aim is to help mothers reach their Prime potential in taking care of their families and home. This event theme is about “MomPreneurs” or mothers who are/wants to be an entrepreneur. They ignited our our entrepreneurial spirit by talking about business and by giving us workshops all through the day.

The first workshop was held by Via Pacheco, the owner of MAARTSY. She has taught us how to make a Charm Trinket/Keychain step by step. What’s also a catch is that she taught us where to buy the cheapest materials if ever we want to purchase and how the pricing should work.

Then came our lunch! We were invited to eat buffet style. They were serving Beef Steak, Sweet and Sour Fish, Pancit and Desserts! I really admire their style in introducing Mega Prime’s product to us, they incorporated their product all throughout the day. It gave me lots of ideas for the next meal time planning for my family.

The second workshop was held by Chef Mira Angeles, the owner of Artisan Emporium. She showed us how to make her best seller polvoron and pastillas using Mega Prime’s high quality ingredients. She also gave us an insight how to price them accordingly, how to package our products differently and how to store it properly.

Here’s my favorite part, Marian Rivera joined us while Chef Mira was doing her workshop. She made us feel that it’s really easy and fun to do! And where else can you find Marian Rivera live? Only at Prime Mom’s Club! Hahaha.

Prime Mom Club

Not only did she join in the workshop, she even had a surprise for us! She taught us how to make her famous Beef Steak with Mega Prime Mushroom. Then she also taught us how to make layered fruit salad cake! Another wonderful idea for the upcoming holiday season.

The event was really wonderful and once in a lifetime event. Imagine, leaning alongside Marian Rivera? Aside from that, the ideas that they have imparted us is truly a blessing.

Can’t wait for the next workshop!

Motherhood, Reviews

My Birthday Dinner using EATIGO

Gone were the days where I celebrated my birthday by partying!

I remember when I was still single, I usually book a hotel room for party and party until the morning light peeks in! When I became a mother, I never saw myself partying again, I would rather sleep! Who can relate?

So as my birthday was nearing up

I searched for the best buffet around town or the best deals for my birthday dinner! I realized that I do not like buffet and I opted for Korean Food! Then a friend of mine, introduced me to this App called

This app allows you to book for a restaurant that offers a discounted menu for a certain time.

This is the app,  an example is this, if you are only 2 persons, the full discount you can get is 50%! Imagine that, perfect for a date night! If you are more than 2 people, the maximum that you can get is 30% off! Not bad, either right?

Birthday Dinner

I was really craving for authentic Korean so I chose JinJoo Restaurant at the Podium. I invited my family and that’s it! Called them before hand to let them know, and upon checking the system, my booking is confirmed!

Birthday Dinner

Eatigo is so much better than Metrodeal, wherein you DO NOT NEED A VOUCHER and you can use it as early as an hour after your appointment! Less hassle in life always sounds good to me.

Side note though, the SERVICE CHARGE IS NOT DISCOUNTED. I will show you a receipt and look how much we saved! Knowing that I got 30% off
the price.

Birthday Dinner

I ordered my heart away and never regretted anything! We were not able to take a picture of it because the food was too good, and we savoured it in an instant. Here are some of the pictures of the food that I was able to take a picture, my favorite is the Mul Naengmyun (Cold Noodles). I usually check the menu before I go to restaurants to see if what I really craved for is available.

After eating, we head to Starbucks

this is my birthday tradition, to go get my FREE BIRTHDAY CAKE.

Yup, if it’s your birthday and you have a registered Starbucks card, they will give you a slice of cake for free!

Birthday Dinner

Then we had coffee while Inigo headed to Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory for ice cream and let me tell you, it was really good!

Birthday Dinner

Then a funny story happened, I usually buy him Royce Choclate Nama variant. But before we buy, I take advantage of the free taste and let him taste too, to make the experience all together. So we took 2 free taste, bought one, went to our table and gave him 2 slices. I told him that’s what he will get tonight and I will give him tomorrow.

He perfectly understood what I meant and left me alone. He ran back to Royce and our nanny followed him, just watching him from a distance, you know what he did? HE NEVER LEFT THE ROYCE STORE UNTIL HE GOT A FREE TASTE! When he received the chocolate, he came back running, saying “Mama, CHOC-WIT” (chocolate). Everyone was bursting in laughter! I knew from then on, my little one will grow to be a very “madiskarte”

(street-smart) boy!

Birthday Dinner

We went home full, happy and grateful. How did you spend your birthday this year, mommy?
